The 1994 Acura Legend Coupe Proves that Acura Used to Be Cool

One of my favorite cars of all time. One thing you missed that I loved on mine, there’s a sun visor above the rear view mirror for that evening and early morning low sun that beams in your face from right above the rear view. Useful as hell! And speed is relative Doug. In today’s world of 0-60 in 3 seconds it’s hard to have a frame of reference for something from the 90’s. It’s still a special car. All the crap nowadays all look like each other. Styling gets a 5? Dude, being from Philly you should know better. I’m gonna rank an old car based on modern standards. Doug you’re buggin my friend. Get your mind right.

Doug, fun fact at 6:18 the maintenance “light” isn’t even a light, it’s a plastic green indicator that turns yellow and red, then that little slot below it is where you push the key in to reset it back to green! It’s based on the odometer, which isn’t surprising for a 1994. I didn’t have the coupe, I had the sedan but I still love/miss this car sometimes. Thank you for this awesome review and trip down memory lane!!

The Acura Legend was one of the most beautiful luxury car car in the 1990s. The design is modern and the interior is luxurious.

Agree about the dissing of the performance though. Doug have driven to many hyper cars. And the thing is - it is VERY hard to get a FWD car to do 0-60 under 6 seconds. So when you have enough horsepower to do that - there is really no reason to add more. Especially not in a comfort car like this. Maybe just for the sake of getting more torque. But no other reason exists. Also why should a coupé be more fun than a sedan? Its the same underpinnings. If it was that much different it would be more logical to release it under another name - when you spent the money developing a whole new car.

Keywords here - "and it still works"! That's Honda for ya'! :D Even if it is a restored car I bet you it worked before that. People today that worry about all the new electric gizmos in cars have been tainted by german crapboxes that self-short out after two years :p

drivers side rear access isn't annoying.. it's because of a few reasons..1) most likely the driver would be in the seat so they would control that seat.. 2) as the driver, u don't want someone up squish u into the steering wheel

I have an 04 accord ex v6 coupe. Looking at this makes me think the interior is a hommage to this car. From the two tone colors to to the wood trim, door trim, to the leather, to the center console. It's like a 90's variant of my current car.

You quoted on your video that it wasn't until 1993, the Acura Legend was available with the coupe. The OEM keyfob that you mention in your video didn't come in leather from the factory. You could buy the leather cover and add to the OEM remote. Shame, Shame on you Mr. DeMuro!!!

Actual Acura Logo origin as opposed to host's explanation; The logo of the company was first introduced in 1990 and according to the official explanation represents a caliper, a precise and accurate measuring instrument with the idea to highlight exceptional quality of the brand’s vehicles.

That's what is so weird about Acura. It's like they started out trying to establish a luxury division of Honda for North America. But very quickly descended more and more into simply placing a different badge on a Honda. Sure they would have a few more features, but they were basically the same cars. They should just kill it already. Stop pretending...

If I had to guess why the turn signals alternate when the headlights are on, it's because having both bulbs flash at the same time would cause the headlights to dim slightly. These old cars didn't have a lot of electrical power available.

I had the last year('95) of the Legend Coupe LS, unfortunately it was an automatic. One thing to note, I believe only the '94 & '95 cars coupe and the GS sedans came with the 230HP Type 2 motor and offered 6 speed. The others also had a 3.2L V6 but only 200HP. It was relatively fast for its time, I even autocrossed mine. Unfortunately, the transmission didn't do so well. These were not cheap cars new. I bought mine 2nd hand, but it was loaded and had a $45k MSRP which was good money at the time. Definitely the leather interior on those cars looked nothing like this one. Mine I kept very well conditioned with Lexol so it lasted decently with only minor cracking. But most of them had split bolsters on the front seats. In general, the leather in Japanese cars is a bit thin compared to German makers so it doesn't age as well. Funny, I guess I must like quirky cars because Doug has reviewed the last 3 coupes I've own. SLS AMG, FD RX7, and now the late model Legend Coupe.
