Is This the Future of HD Trucks? 2020 Atlis XT Electric Pickup With Hard To Believe Claims

It's still early in the game for EV's and they're already getting really good, so just imagine what will be coming out over the next decade. The internal combustion engine in 2030 will be likely be as antiquated as a gas powered drill is today.

Be cool to have a truck that doesn't dump transmissions, differentials, actuators, drivelines, you name it. Electric vehicles are just so damn simple that even if something goes wrong, it's not a night full of cussin' to get some part out that's crammed in between a bunch of other parts. I hope they engineer this to be maintenance and repair friendly. I don't see any need to do it any other way.

You are all amazed because you do not know how electro-motors work, their strength, etc... If it wasn't for petrol mafia, electric car would be already dominant and far more advanced. We are just at dawn. My only problem is that autonomous abilities are getting better everyday and soon (in several years) you will not drive a car and probably even own it.

I’m interested but are they going to offer a Cab and Chassis and a regular cab? If I can’t put an aftermarket bed on the truck (Bale Bed in my case) without trouble or major modifications then its useless to me. It also needs to be capable of crossing deep water and mod without damage like my current truck. They also need to offer the option for a “Range Extender” for those of us that use our trucks for heavy towing and long distance driving since that 15 minute change time requires more than a 120 VAC cord. I would suggest one of the new Microturbine Generators that are now available for EVs. They are powerful, small, lightweight, efficient, do not require regular maintenance, and do not need any exhaust after treatment. They could easily be made to fit into the front trunk as a plug-in unit and moved to a new vehicle if the owner trades trucks.

It’s about time that we are seeing an electric truck. I own a home building company in Texas and I drive a Ford Raptor. Some trucks are for the tradesman to get work done, some are for the boss, and some are for sport. 400 miles of range is a great range! I am looking forward to seeing what vehicles become in the future and I don’t think they are being innovative enough fast enough for me to see something mind blowing today become common place before the Lord calls me home. Look how long Cell Phones took to be as cool as they are today. I was 21 before flip phones and today I am 44. I think Ford, Chevrolete and Dodge need to pour some serious resources into making some amazing electric vehicles. Tesla has been around for too long not to see more of them on the road partly because of expense and secondly because it takes a while to embrace technology. It’s not like a flying vehicle is going to be powered by a turbine engine. They are going to be electric and fan driven unless “an antigravity device” is created but still some kind of propellant is going to be needed. We need more companies like this being innovative to increase options and price completion.

Assuming a little specmanship to begin with, 15hp to do 60 for 5 hours (300 miles) comes out to 55.5kwh charging on a 440v line will take just a bit over 500 amps. Just the cells for the battery pack that size will cost almost $30,000. According to a HP calculator based off those figures you would need at least 500hp, if they managed to keep it to 4000lbs which I doubt they can.

There is still one big issue. I've been seeing reports on the electric vehicles on their motors. Life of them. One brand in particular they were replacing them at average 3 times in 100,000 miles. At a very large cost. If I'm lucky I can get up to 3 million miles on mine. They want to say that most other vehicles only get around 120,000 miles. They are programmed for that. As saying a 4 door car only gets at average 24 mph when it fact it is turned way down. Reports say they can get 230 mph. Please dont ask for proof. They erase facts off of anything that is a fact. Please do your own research to find. Thanks again.

Vor 2 Tage

Finely someone with common sense. I've been throwing down at them that charge time and distance was way not realistic. 200 miles maybe at a maybe 45 minute charge time. My truck gets over 460 miles per tank at a 15 minute fuel up at empty. I told them do the math. I'm way long down the road before you can get a charge to only go 200 miles. I'm very impressed with this. Now only two last problem. Just the opposite of what they are doing in California to force people into only electric vehicles. In California they want no noisy vehicles. The noise would tell a kid or animal your are coming down the road. A heads up. With no noise, watch, more everything getting hit. People and kids and animals really dont pay attention. Then where to get a charge. Not every place has one and someone out in the middle of no where most likely wont give you one. Although they keep saying power outages everywhere. Nice truck. Nice charging time and distance. Not bad. To bad someone else they keep saying is smart was as smart as this company. Thanks for the info.

im all for trying to better whats left of our environment...in what seems like a blink of an eye, like from the beginning of the industrial age, which for conversation purposes, say 1850 or so,until now,we really have screwed up the planet..so,when I see something like this it makes sense..some cool ideas...even 10-15 years ago, this truck would of seemed far fetched..but in the back of my mind, the first thing that comes to me is....are these companies with all their great ideas, really planning on going into the car business, and actually make something,or are they all just hoping that one of the major existing car makers, buy them out.... and they can all become overnite billionaires...I still think that's what tesla is hoping,,,they get the thing rolling, everybody wants one,the big three see it,and decide to buy it,and musk walks away with a ton of money...he seems more interested in going to mars,or building a high speed tunnel ..he has kinda proved the business model will work, because the time is here for electric vehicles, and so on,and on...here is another company that is jumping onto the bandwagon,,,it will be interesting,to actually see if there projections for future production ever comes true..just my thoughts on all this..this truck does make a lot of sense, thats for sure...some pretty aggressive numbers on payload, towing, range, and especially price,though..time will tell...

Lots of negative comments - like where is all of the electricity going to come from? Solar and wind are here already. It takes awhile for people's heads to get screwed on straight for a paradigm shift. Yes, the installs are front loaded in cost but the return curve is finally getting reasonable. We cannot continue to be dependent on fossil; fuels - it's a vanishing resource on the current and growing economies of scale.

Cool truck but electric vehicles are still impractical for those who drive a lot. The charging stations are extremely limited and you have to stop your driving and wait for a charge. In back country driving you would be sol. It is interesting though what the electric trucks claim they can do but in the real world, they can’t compete against diesels or even most gas trucks right now. Someone just needs to make a great hybrid truck first and continue to develop the entire countries charging grid. These trucks won’t be something we could enjoy until the less populated areas have ample charging networks imo
