Just wondering, isn't the plastic cover about $300 wholesale? You could skip all that two days worth of work and put a brand new one on. If the plastic is like $700 might be worth it but you might expend more labor than its worth

For the analsided people who bitch why not just use a plastic welder, get a new bumper or why is soo much work involved. These types of repairs are perfect for cheap to mid priced flipping cars. The savings will be invested how creative you can finish a repair without spending a lot of money. This labor time spent equals MONEY. Thats why you never finish a project, you judge, you are an employee and remain poor wasting time. Thank you so much.

People dont use acetone on any kind of plastic. It kind of burns it a little but most importantly it creates micro fissures. You can use izopropilic alcohol which is cheaper too.

Great job. I wouldn't listen to the clowns that keep asking about buying a new bumper. They know nothing of the art of re-using the same item with the adding of talent and time. Your English was great and easy to understand. Pictures were very easy to understand. You have talent in auto body repair but i also appreciate your ability to photo and provide documentary. Very good job!!!

Auto Repair Guys + First time watching your channel. Awesome video! I'm not sure where you're from, just can't place the accent. Regardless of where you're from, you've cornered the market on ingenuity and a do-it yourself attitude. I've got a cracked rear bumper on my 2015 Hyundai Tucson. Was considering replacing it, but after your video, I'm going to repair it myself. In the U.S., they'll tell you to replace, or if the crack's small, they'll charge out the wazzo to weld the plastic. They say you have to wait at least 24 hrs between base coat and clear coat, or the top coat will be hazy or crack because of moisture. They say a lot of things that just aren't true, which you guys disprove with every video. Keep up the good work and keep the informative videos coming. I used to work in a bodyshop during my high school years as a part-time job. If you put just a few drops of dishwashing liquid in your bucket of water for the first wet-sanding, it'll keep your sandpaper from getting clogged up with paint dust as often, keeps the surface wetter/slicker longer, and actually flows the particles away from the area you're working. The rinse off afterwards cleans up easier too. I wouldn't recommend using this trick with the final wet sand as it may interfere with long-term paint adhesion.

bad advise unless you want to buy a new one or do it right. 1st. you got a flexable rummer type of material. 2nd you add a stiff liquid compound. 2 different expansion rates. it will not fix your probem but just waste your money. ass hole

Superb video. Very many thanks! Your video has now given me a lot of confidence to fix a badly cracked bumper on my Suzuki Jimny. I was impressed that you knew to stop-drill the ends of the cracks - very important as it de-stresses the area. Stop-drilling works on cracked metal too. Many thanks!

HOW TO FIX A REDICULOUS FRENCH ACCENT, AMAZING REPAIR Step1: Drill either side of the mouth. Step2: Put cable ties through drilled holes. Step3: Tighten cable ties to force mouth closed. Step4: Sand lightly and clean with acetone. Step5: Coat mouth with appoxy and place gauze over mouth. Step6: Allow to dry then grind mouth smooth with angle grinder. Step7: Putty over mouth and let set before sanding perfectly smooth. Step:8 Paint over area with a matching Color and allow to dry before polishing. Rediculous accent will be gone and won't return for the life of the Imbecile. Thanks for watching. Please rate or subscribe for further handy and helpful tips.

Good job, I could add something that works better for you’r glassing. When patching the bumper use a smaller glueing coat of epoxy around the splitting opening. This welds the crack and mesh fiber glass to the splitting bumper. Now use a larger cloth patch to cover over the smaller extending past enough for strength. Remember to use polyester resin with this larger cloth patch. The polyester resin has more flex to it. This will allow the repair to have more flex as the rest of the bumper has.

WOW... I just added up the cost of all the materials and tools to do this repair for one's self. It came up to over $500. And without the tools, but just for materials only it was around $200. Googled how much for a new bumper, it was under $300. Looks and sounds like to me that it would be better just to replace the bumper. Would be quicker and easier as well. Especially if one doesn't have the tools already. Just my opinion. But of course, if you're one who constantly breaks your bumper(s)... then maybe this would be a good investment to purchase all the tools and materials for future repairs? OR.. you could put that money towards driving lessons so you can learn how to STOP damaging your bumpers over and over again! LOL

You have to be careful using expoy on certain materials. I have done the same repairs on a brand new John Deer riding mower after the owners dumb son backed someones brand new riding lawn mower into something. When I was done repairing it, the owner said he couldnt even tell where it had been damaged. I had previous experience repairing snowmobile hoods using this method. Its not a new technique by any means. I have seen guys use zip ties to just Frankenstein their sleds back together, that really makes me mad when people do that! Now I swear by the plastic welder! If you are going to do this on a professional level, you need to invest in a plastic welder. They used to coat a fortune but not any more. They used to be dealer only, but not any more. I personally would NEVER do any repair like that for a customer. It wont last. I also know that. It may last a few years at best. Or until the guy sells the car.
