Hi Coach. How many times has Kevin Love had the ball at the elbow through 5 games? Against the Bucks I think he had a good patch where they came down the floor and gave it to him a few times in a row at the elbow and got good looks as a result or even passing out of the post. Lue constantly talks about wanting to use Love at the elbow but it certainly isn't showing through so far. Do you think the Cavs should play through him more?

+BBALLBREAKDOWN, was wondering if you could help me understand current(!) NBA rules on correctly finishing a drive to the basket and not travelling, as I am quite confused at the moment. During my casual games people keep calling that I am travelling when trying to do eurostep. I have just watched a bunch of videos on this move using youtube's slow speed feature, and what I see is that in many cases players essentially grab the ball with both hands while having one foot on the floor, and then proceed to make two full steps. On the other hand, having watched some other videos on how NOT to travel (both when starting the dribble and finishing), it seems like this should not be legal? is it just the case that officials in NBA just don't call this anymore? or is this because players grab the ball so close to making the first step of the move? or is it actually legal?

Coach, what are the rules regarding the step-through? Can you lift your pivot foot before the other foot when going for a shot or do you have to jump with both feet? There seems to be a lot of controversy over that. In the first two highlights of this video: bifayouxi.net/v-video-xpuswrs-Svg.html Kobe did not get called for travelling when he clearly lifts his pivot foot before the other. However, a lot of people insist that once the pivot foot is off the ground before the other foot, it's considered travelling

hey I've got an idea for a great video for you.you should tell about mvp award and why it's "overreated". because it's not like the best player in the league gets it, so what's the reason? tell how players in superteams take from each other votes (two superstars = no MVP), what stories makes you likely get MVP (not only winning, but history chasing vide Westbrook, stats padding, winning in finals season prior etc.) who should in your opinion really get an MVP year by year if it was an award for best performing player in regular season. hope you would consider it, i'm very courious what do you think! greetings

Hey love your channel! I was wondering if you guys have any plans to do a video on Westbrook? No not how amazing an offensive force he is or look at these triple doubles. A video discussing the pit falls in his game and where he needs to improve. Running the offense. Making his team mates better. Historic turnovers and horrible assist to turnover ratio. Sub par shooting percentage especially from 3pt range. Or his questionable perimeter defense... I want someone to take an objective look at his game focusing on the good and the bad. There has been way too much focus on just three stats... Thanks and keep up the great work.

Everyone's asking you to be their video monkey, but I...well I'm going to do the same thing haha. My favorite vids from bball breakdown are the details videos, like the Isaiah Thomas attacking the basket vid from a few days ago. I haven't found one (from you guys or anywhere else) that breaks down the finer points of making and taking contact. Personally, I'm thinking of the subtleties of Nick Collison's contact game, from setting screens to drawing charges to protecting the lane with a hard foul when necessary. I suppose I'm focusing on him because I'm a Thunder fan and I'm wondering how much longer I'll get to watch him play; but I also can't think of a *better* player to focus on for that kind of nuts & bolts, underappreciated, nuanced understanding of the role of contact in basketball. Anyways, just a suggestion. Thanks for making great stuff!

a question to the coach: do you think that the championship will go to the team with the best player-duo (which statswise actually is durant/curry)? and is there a clear tendency that teams with strong dynamic duos (like many in the history of the nba) will almost always win the rings, while other teams with only one really strong guy (statswise) will just compete to a certain point and then fall down (always given the fact that there are good role players, bench players in EVERY team which made it to the conference finals) i am pretty sure the curry/durant golden state will win the rings 2017, if lebron/irving dont get a huge boost (like last years finals). i dont see another team so far to get the championship.

Coach nick, love the channel and your podcast however in your recent podcast you seemed to dislike the triple threat in today's game. As a major believer in the triangle offense why do you feel the triple threat is out of date? The greatest player of all time ( in my very humble and bias opinion) MJ was a master of the triple threat, along with one of the other greatest players, kobe Bryant. Both these players were hugely successful in the triangle offense. Also kawhi Leonard who is in the top ten players in the league has been shown video by coach pop of both the for mentioned players triple threat ability. I am a huge believer in the triple threat, however do agree with you that seeing Carmelo jab step 10 seconds of the shot clock away only to put up a terrible shot is less than efficient. I would love to hear your thoughts, and once again really love the job you and your guest do on your videos and podcasts.

Hey coach, i love this channel. Would doing an 'intermediate' generalised introduction to offenses over one or two videos be something you would do? I've watched some of your many videos on individual offensive sets but as a passionate British amateur and ex-amateur team player i've found many of them are too detailed for me to understand fully or remember. (I'm aware of all the vocubulary and can see and understand ALL the players individual actions, eg. curry setting a back screen for thompson before popping out, brush screens, pick and pop, etc, etc) but offensives as a whole on a higher level i just don't 'see').An ideal introduction might cover; what are offensive sets, why do we need them, what are the common types of offensive sets and their strengths and weaknesses, is there a way we can spot each type in a game (eg horns having two guys at corner 3), what are fashionable sets for each era, how do nba teams defend these sets, etc. I'd imagine many viewers are in the same boat, passionate amateurs wishing for a greater knowledge of the game but lacking the skills to understand your great detailed set videos. Keep up the great work regardless. I'm addicted to this channel. Playoff 2016 analysis has been amazing. Thanks.

Man why is curry so turnover prone. I understand the level of attention he receives but this entire year he has been in a seperate Circus universe during stretches of games. Kerr had to sit him down and asked him if he was alright. Well he wasn't talking about his body, he was talking about his decision making. Feels like 6 out every 10 turnovers are unforced with limited pressure.

Coach, I got a request. Westbrook had 13 assists in game 7. I was wondering if you could do an analysis of those 13 assists and see if they came from offensive schemes that he created, or if they were just residue of poorly constructed offense and Oklahoma got a, lucky, for lack of a better word, shot out of it. I personally feel that people put too much emphasis on assists and people use it as a defense for why Westbrook is actually a good point guard. I don't think he creates plays, I think he kind of creates confusion and chaos and tries to score in the midst of the chaos.

Vor 2 years
Rafael Peres
Rafael Peres

I think most of his assists come from a pass to KD at the top of the key for a splash or after a drive to the hoop and a nifty pass to the open big man. Useful and unselfish. One can argue that most of CP3's assists come from lobs to DJ or BG so that doesn't make him a good point guard either. But that's up for debate.

Just wanted to say I'm currently listening to your podcast with Ronny Chieng, and for me it's probably the best podcast you've done so far. He's very self aware, curious, has more questions than answers, which means he's also a good listener, but I guess that also comes with being a comedian. It also brings the best out of you IMO coach when the guest on the other side is as excited, if not more, to be talking to you and picking your brain. He knows what he doesn't know, and this is a very rare quality, and these are the people I like to learn from, they try to find patterns between stuff they know and stuff they're trying to learn, and thus are able to understand concepts on so many levels and they become the type of teachers/mentors that can change lives. I wouldn't be against having some kind of monthly podcast with him to talk about the happenings in the league next season.

Hi Coach, can you please take a look at why Kevin Love is incapable of low post backdowns anymore?! It's the biggest mystery in the NBA no one talks about. This guy used to be a top tier low post scoring threat with very good footwork, jump hooks and dropsteps. Can back down basically anyone. Now he can barely back down guards and small forwards. Can't seem to even budge forwards and centres. Almost always settles for jumper or turnaround from the low post, rarely a power move. Everyone just blames it on his role changing and Cavs not using him in the low post etc....which misses the point and isnt even true anymore. He gets a lot of low post touches but cannot create any offense out of it. My theory is he lost too much weight and literally does not have the bulk to move people. But that doesnt explain why his footwork is now non-existent. It's the equivalent of a knockdown shooter completely changing his shot mechanics for no reason and now can't hit anything. It's mindboggling. I've noticed it for a good year and a half now.
